13 Billion Rupees Withdrawn from Banking System in a Single Day

In a surprising development, the banking system in Nepal saw a withdrawal of 13 billion rupees in a single day. According to data from Nepal Rastra Bank, deposits in banks and financial institutions dropped by 13 billion rupees on Kartik 25 (November 11). Consequently, the total deposits in banks and financial institutions fell to 6.622 trillion rupees, down from 6.635 trillion rupees the previous day.
Deposit Decline: On Kartik 25, the total deposits in banks and financial institutions dropped by 13 billion rupees, bringing the total down to 6.622 trillion rupees.
Loan Decline: On the same day, total loan disbursement by banks and financial institutions also fell by 3 billion rupees, reaching a total of 5.274 trillion rupees.
Increase in CD Ratio: The average CD (Credit to Deposit) ratio for banks rose slightly to 78.31%, up from the previous day’s 78.20%.
Interbank Interest Rate Stable: The interbank interest rate remained stable at 3%, indicating a steady balance between liquidity requirements and availability among banks.
