The government has removed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dan Bahadur Karki from his position following allegations regarding his role in several recent controversial incidents.
A cabinet meeting decided to relieve Karki of his executive duties as the police chief and transfer him to the Prime Minister’s Office, where he will serve in an advisory capacity.
The government reportedly opted to transfer Karki to the Prime Minister's Office as a safer alternative to avoid potential legal complications that a direct dismissal might have triggered.
Concurrently, the cabinet has appointed Additional Inspector General (AIG) Manoj KC to the top post, making him the new Inspector General of Nepal Police.
