Kathmandu — The government will carry out a comprehensive restructuring of the health insurance programme, Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle announced through the budget.
Wagle said scattered social health security programmes and health-related liabilities will be integrated, with a single-payment method adopted.
The Finance Minister said the government expects that, through the universalisation of health insurance, 90 percent of Nepalis will come under the coverage of health insurance within the next three years, and that individual treatment costs will be significantly reduced.
He added that a national trauma policy will be formulated to minimise the loss of life and property from road accidents and sudden trauma.
