Government to Set Up Governance Innovation Challenge Fund, Review Federal Power-Sharing

Kathmandu — Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has announced various plans and programmes for the fiscal federalism sector through the budget.

Wagle said the detailing of functions will be reviewed to remove the duplication of powers, responsibilities, and performance among the federal, provincial, and local governments. He said the existing double-taxation dispute among the three tiers will be resolved through clarity of jurisdiction and legal reform.

The Finance Minister said a Governance Innovation Challenge Fund will be established to strengthen federalism and improve local services.
