Citizen Life Insurance Publishes New Bonus Rates for Its Life Insurance Policies

Citizen Life Insurance Company Limited has announced the new bonus rates for various life insurance policies based on the actuarial valuation of its financial position for fiscal year 2081/082. The actuarial report was approved by the Nepal Insurance Authority on Mangsir 14, 2082, after which the company finalized the bonus rates applicable to all participating life insurance policies.

Bonus Rates Differ by Policy Type and Term

The company has set different bonus rates depending on the policy type and the duration of the insurance term.
The newly announced bonus rates range from Rs. 25 to Rs. 80 per thousand sum assured per year.

Some highlights include:

• Advance Premium Endowment Life Policy: Rs. 44–55 per thousand

• Annual Advance Premium Endowment Policy: Rs. 25–28 per thousand

• Citizen Subharambha Plan: Rs. 35–75 per thousand

• Standard Endowment Life Policy: Rs. 38–50 per thousand

• Citizen Child Future Plan: Rs. 40–52 per thousand

• Citizen Jeevan Saarathi Plan: Rs. 38–80 per thousand

The highest bonus rate of Rs. 80 per thousand has been set for the Citizen Jeevan Saarathi Plan for policy terms “30 years or above.”

Policy Count and Distribution

The notice also reveals the number of policies under each category.
The highest number of policies—48,161—falls under the Citizen Subharambha Plan (10–14 years), where the bonus rate is set at Rs. 39 per thousand.
Similarly, 28,889 policies in the 15–19 years Subharambha Plan will receive a bonus rate of Rs. 41 per thousand.

Bonus Rates Applicable to All Claim Types

Citizen Life has clarified that the declared bonus rates will apply to:

• Death claims

• Full or partial maturity payments

• Surrender value claims

• Paid-up value calculations

• All active participating life insurance policies

These bonus rates will remain effective until the next actuarial valuation report receives approval from the Nepal Insurance Authority.
