Everest Bank has earned a net profit of Rs 1.25 billion in the first quarter of the current fiscal year 2083/84 (2026/27). This represents a 6.23% increase compared to the Rs 1.17 billion earned during the same period last year. While the bank's core revenue source—net interest income—declined by 1.35% to Rs 2.37 billion, strong growth in fees, commissions, and trading income positively impacted overall profitability.
During this review period, the bank saw a notable improvement in asset quality. Non-performing loans (NPL), which stood at 0.74% last year, have been reduced to 0.50%. With the drop in bad loans, the impairment charge (loan loss provision) also decreased significantly from Rs 420 million to Rs 233 million. Consequently, the bank's total operating profit reached Rs 1.78 billion, and distributable profit available to shareholders stood at Rs 721.5 million.
The bank's key financial indicators remain strong and attractive to investors. Currently, the earnings per share (EPS) is Rs 34.78, and the net worth per share is Rs 243.01. Furthermore, the base rate, which determines lending interest rates, has dropped to 4.25%, while the credit-to-deposit (CD) ratio sits at a comfortable 75.43%, providing the bank with ample space to expand its lending.
Analyzing the current economic landscape, the bank noted that adequate liquidity in the banking system and declining interest rates have created a favorable environment for credit expansion. However, the bank expressed concern over the recent floods and landslides affecting the Rasuwagadhi border crossing, which have impacted energy and trade sectors. Pointing out that loan recovery, capital pressure, and cyber security remain major upcoming challenges, the bank concluded that its future strategy will focus on digital banking and innovative, customer-centric services.
