In the first 11 months of the current fiscal year 2081/82, fuel-powered vehicles worth Rs 15.92 billion were imported through the Birgunj customs point. According to Customs Chief Deepak Lamichhane, a total of 59,474 fuel-run vehicles—from unassembled motorcycles to cranes and trucks—were imported, generating Rs 15.38 billion in revenue.

Of these, 44,440 unassembled motorcycles worth Rs 5.78 billion contributed Rs 5.51 billion in revenue. Additionally, 1,307 bus and truck chassis worth Rs 2.63 billion, 839 jeeps, cars, and vans worth Rs 1.8 billion, and 5,220 tractors/trailers worth Rs 1.16 billion were imported.

Similarly, 374 buses (Rs 1.02 billion), 131 concrete mixer lorries (Rs 670 million), and 276 trucks/minitrucks (Rs 660 million) entered the country. Meanwhile, 4,160 ready-made motorcycles worth Rs 390 million were also imported.

During the same period, 2,385 electric vehicles worth Rs 1.84 billion were imported, yielding Rs 1.84 billion in revenue as well. Altogether, imports of vehicles and their parts brought in Rs 17.7 billion in customs revenue during the 11-month period.
