Koshi Province Investment Summit with 71 Projects: Targeting Rs. 175 Billion in Investments

Koshi Province is set to organize its first-ever Investment Summit in Biratnagar on Baisakh 18 and 19, targeting to attract over Rs. 175 billion in investments. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will inaugurate the event.

According to Dr. Saroj Koirala, CEO of the Provincial Investment Authority, a total of 71 projects, each worth over Rs. 100 million, will be showcased across eight sectors including tourism, agriculture, industry, energy, infrastructure, IT services, health, and education.

To ensure a more investment-friendly environment, the provincial government has amended eight key laws through ordinances issued on Baisakh 16. These include acts related to public-private partnerships, cooperatives, transport, buildings, industry, tourism, firm registration, and forests. The amendments aim to eliminate legal hurdles and attract both domestic and international investors.

The summit will see participation from investors and stakeholders from China, the U.S., India, South Korea, Russia, non-resident Nepalis, and notable Nepali industrialists. Six thematic sessions will be held covering areas like agriculture and tourism, industrial production and marketing, infrastructure and energy, and health and medical education.

Pre-meetings and follow-up meetings will be conducted to facilitate project implementation, with agreements expected on over two dozen projects. The event is expected to be historic and result-oriented.
