Nepal Rastra Bank Enters Its 71st Year

Nepal Rastra Bank has completed 70 years and entered its 71st year starting today. Established on Baisakh 14, 2013 BS (April 26, 1956) for economic management, the Bank has been operating with ensured autonomy under a new act, managing monetary and foreign exchange policies. The central bank has been working towards maintaining financial system stability, developing a secure payment system, and conserving foreign currency reserves. So far, 17 governors have served at the Bank. The first governor was Himalayan Shumsher J.B. Rana, and currently, Dr. Neelam Dhungana is serving as the acting governor.
