Nepal Stock Exchange Sees Modest Recovery as Index Rises Despite Lower Turnover

On the second trading day of the week, the benchmark index of the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) closed with a marginal gain after declining for three consecutive sessions. On Monday, the NEPSE index rose by 2.41 points to settle at 2,616.97. The Sensitive Index increased by 1.65 points, while the Float Index and Sensitive Float Index gained 0.15 and 0.43 points respectively. Despite the index’s rise, total trading volume declined. Compared to NPR 6.69 billion traded on Sunday, Monday recorded transactions worth NPR 5.13 billion through 56,347 trades of 329 listed companies, involving over 12.6 million shares. Salapa Development Bank hit the positive circuit, closing at NPR 439.20 per share. Shares of Reliance Spinning Mills, Mega Mutual Fund-1, and Support Microfinance also posted strong gains, while NIBL Samriddhi Fund-2 recorded the highest decline. In terms of turnover, Ankhu Khola Hydropower led the market. Out of 13 sub-indices, six advanced while seven declined, reflecting mixed market sentiment.
