Nepal's Economy Expected to Reach NPR 6.1 Trillion This Fiscal Year, Per Capita Income at $1,517

Nepal’s economy is projected to grow to NPR 6.1 trillion in the current fiscal year 2081/82 (2024/25), according to preliminary estimates released by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) on Wednesday. In comparison, the revised estimate for FY 2080/81 (2023/24) was NPR 5.7 trillion, while it was NPR 5.36 trillion in FY 2079/80 (2022/23).
The economic growth rate for the current fiscal year is estimated at 4.61%. The agricultural sector is expected to grow by 3.28%, while the non-agricultural sector is projected to expand by 4.28%. Among the sectors, electricity and gas are anticipated to see the highest growth at 13.82%.
According to CBS, Nepal’s per capita Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is expected to reach $1,496, while per capita Gross National Income (GNI) is projected at $1,517. Remittance inflows from foreign employment are expected to contribute 25.89% to GDP, while total national savings are estimated to be 36.24%.
The report also notes that final consumption will account for 93.45% of GDP, exports of goods and services 8.74%, and imports 33.23%, reflecting a consumption-driven economic structure.
