Chinese e-Visa Application for Nepali Travelers – Documents, Fees, and Duration

Applying for a Chinese visa or e-Visa as a Nepali citizen in 2025 follows the official procedure managed by the Chinese Visa Application Service Center (CVASC), Kathmandu. Although China currently does not offer a fully online e-Visa system for Nepali travelers, the process is semi-digital — the application form is filled and submitted online, and applicants must then visit the visa center to submit documents and biometrics.
To apply, travelers must present a valid passport with at least six months’ validity and two blank pages, a completed visa application form, and a recent color photograph. Additional requirements include confirmed flight tickets, hotel bookings, and proof of sufficient financial means, such as a recent bank statement showing a balance of around NPR 225,000 or more. If traveling to visit friends, family, or a company, an invitation letter from China is also needed.
From May 2024, China officially waived the visa fee for Nepali citizens, meaning applicants no longer pay the embassy’s standard visa charge. However, they still need to pay the service fee charged by CVASC (around NPR 2,500–4,000) and express or urgent service fees if faster processing is required (extra NPR 3,000–6,000).
Processing usually takes 4–7 working days for standard applications, while express service can deliver results in 2–3 days. Tourist visas (L-type) generally allow a stay of up to 30 days, with single or double entry and validity of around three months.
In summary, Nepali travelers can apply for a Chinese visa easily through CVASC with basic documents and at minimal cost due to the fee waiver. The system is not a full e-Visa yet, but the online form and simplified process make it efficient for most tourists and business visitors.
