Documents Required for China Visa for Nepali Citizens in 2025

Applying for a China visa in 2025 as a Nepali citizen requires careful attention to document accuracy, clarity, and completeness — especially under the new online application system launched by the Chinese Embassy in Nepal in June 2025. The process begins online through the official portal https://www.visaforchina.cn/KTM3_EN/qianzhengyewu, where applicants must upload all documents for preliminary review before visiting the Chinese Visa Application Service Center (CVASC) in Kathmandu for the formal submission.
The first and most important requirement is a valid Nepali passport with at least six months’ validity remaining and two or more blank visa pages. If the applicant has previously held a Chinese visa in an old passport, it is recommended to include a copy or bring the old passport to show prior travel history. The passport should be in good condition — torn or damaged pages often result in rejection.
Next, the applicant must fill out the China Visa Application Form accurately through the online system, print it, and sign it with a black pen. The form must match the uploaded details such as full name, date of birth, and passport number exactly. Even a minor mismatch may trigger a review delay. Alongside the form, applicants must attach two recent passport-sized color photographs taken within the last six months, featuring a white or light background, neutral expression, and clear facial visibility.
Applicants are also required to present a confirmed travel itinerary, including both flight tickets and hotel bookings. The flight details should show confirmed arrival and departure dates, while the hotel reservations must cover the entire duration of the stay in China. These documents help verify the travel purpose and stay arrangements. If traveling under a group package or company arrangement, a clear travel plan must be attached.
For those visiting China for business, family, education, or other non-tourist reasons, an invitation letter is mandatory. The letter must clearly mention the applicant’s full name, passport number, purpose of visit, relationship (if family visit), intended duration of stay, and the official stamp or signature of the inviting organization or person in China. Any inconsistency in the invitation letter — such as a different organization name from the one in your itinerary — can cause the visa to be delayed or denied.
Applicants are also advised to attach proof of financial means, typically in the form of a recent three-month bank statement showing sufficient balance to cover expenses in China. For students or dependents, a sponsor’s financial documents may be used instead. Additionally, if applicable, previous China visas or travel history pages should be included to demonstrate credibility and consistent travel records.
Depending on the visa category, additional documents may be required. For business visas (M), company registration, trade documents, and business licenses are often requested. For student visas (X), admission notices and JW201/JW202 forms are necessary. For work visas (Z), an official work permit notification letter from the employer in China is mandatory. Family visit visas (Q or S types) require relationship proof such as a birth certificate, marriage certificate, and copies of the host’s Chinese ID or residence permit.
Another crucial aspect is the biometric requirement. Although fingerprint submission is generally mandatory, the Chinese Embassy in Nepal has temporarily waived fingerprint collection until December 31, 2025, for certain visa types such as single- or double-entry tourist, business, family visit, and crew visas. Applicants should still be prepared for biometric submission if required for multi-entry or long-term visas.
After completing all documents, applicants must ensure that each uploaded file is clear, legible, and correctly formatted, as unclear scans or incomplete uploads can cause the Embassy’s online system to reject the application. During the physical submission at CVASC Kathmandu, all original documents, printed forms, and one photocopy of each document should be submitted together for smooth verification.
