Government to Ease Fiscal Pressure Through New Financial Instruments

Kathmandu — The government's fiscal pressure will be reduced through the arrangement of new and alternative financial instruments, Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle announced through the budget.

In this context, Wagle has proposed new financial instruments to mobilise capital from outside the government's balance sheet in order to bring in public investment and technology.

He said the law on an Alternative Development Finance Fund, aimed at mobilising private investment in infrastructure, has already been passed by the House of Representatives.

An offshore bond denominated in Nepali currency will soon be issued in the international market. The Finance Minister also said the government has adopted a policy of issuing clean energy bonds and diaspora bonds, and of making maximum use of available climate funds.
