Hong Kong Entry Permit Rules for Nepali Families & Couples Traveling Together

All Nepali families and couples traveling to Hong Kong must apply for a Visit Visa / Entry Permit before departure, as Nepal is not eligible for visa-free or visa-on-arrival entry. Each member must submit individual applications (Form ID 1003A / 1003B) with relationship and financial proofs. Activities such as tourism and family visits are permitted, but employment is strictly forbidden. Yatra For Fun Pvt. Ltd. provides complete visa assistance and guidance for Nepali families.

Hong Kong Entry Permit Rules for Nepali Families & Couples Traveling Together

Traveling to Hong Kong as a family or couple is a dream for many Nepali citizens, whether for tourism, business, or visiting relatives. However, as of 2025, all Nepali passport holders must obtain a Hong Kong Entry Permit (Visit Visa) before departure. Hong Kong does not offer visa-free or visa-on-arrival facilities to Nepali citizens, which means every member of the family — husband, wife, and children — must apply for and receive individual entry permits before traveling. According to the Hong Kong Immigration Department, only citizens of about 170 countries enjoy visa-free entry for short stays, but Nepal is not among those listed. Therefore, each traveler must complete a Visit Visa / Entry Permit application process online or through the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu.

For families or couples applying together, the Hong Kong authorities recommend submitting individual applications under the same travel plan. Each person should fill out Form ID 1003A, and if there is a local sponsor or relative in Hong Kong, that person should fill out Form ID 1003B. Applicants must submit several supporting documents, including a valid passport (with at least six months’ validity), a recent passport-size photo, confirmed flight and hotel bookings, proof of financial stability (such as bank statements), and relationship evidence (like marriage certificates for couples or birth certificates for children). Submitting these documents consistently and accurately is important to avoid delays or rejection.

The processing time for Hong Kong family visit visas usually ranges between 2 to 4 weeks, depending on the completeness of the application. Once approved, each traveler will receive an e-Visa (Electronic Visa) via email, which must be printed and carried during travel. Nepali families should remember that the Hong Kong visitor visa allows only tourism, family visits, short-term business meetings, or attending events, but paid work or employment is strictly prohibited. Any violation of visa conditions can lead to heavy penalties, including fines up to HK$50,000 and imprisonment for up to 2 years under Section 41 of the Hong Kong Immigration Ordinance.

Couples traveling together are also required to present documents proving their relationship, such as a marriage certificate or a joint travel plan. Parents traveling with children must submit consent letters and guardianship documents if one parent is absent. It is highly recommended that families keep photocopies of all documents, including visas, return tickets, and hotel confirmations, throughout their journey. Additionally, immigration officers may conduct random checks, so having printed copies of financial proofs and relationship documents can help ensure smooth entry.

To simplify the entire process, Yatra For Fun Pvt. Ltd., one of Nepal’s leading visa and travel assistance companies, offers complete support for Hong Kong family and couple visa applications. Their services include document verification, visa form filling, application submission, and coordination with Hong Kong Immigration. The company also assists Nepali citizens living abroad — in countries like Australia, Japan, and Europe — who want to process Hong Kong visit visas online. With an excellent track record and fast communication system, Yatra For Fun Pvt. Ltd. ensures that Nepali families can enjoy a hassle-free visa approval experience for Hong Kong.
