How to Handle Priority Review Requests at CVASC Kathmandu

After the Chinese Embassy in Nepal launched the new online visa application system on June 25, 2025, many Nepali applicants have asked about how to get their visa processed faster through priority review. The Chinese Visa Application Service Center (CVASC) in Koteshwor, Kathmandu, allows this service for urgent travelers — but only under certain strict rules. Priority review is designed for those who must travel to China on short notice for business meetings, medical reasons, academic programs, or government delegations. It is not an automatic entitlement; it must be requested personally and supported by valid documentation.
To apply for a priority review, you must first complete your online application through the official portal (https://www.visaforchina.cn/KTM3_EN/qianzhengyewu) and upload all your required documents clearly. Only after your online application passes the preliminary review stage will you receive the “Visa Application Certificate.” Once you have this, you can proceed to CVASC Kathmandu to make your in-person submission. The Embassy clearly states that priority processing cannot be requested online; it must be made physically at the time of passport submission.
When you visit CVASC Kathmandu, bring your internet-connected laptop or mobile device, passport, printed visa application form, Visa Application Certificate, and all original supporting documents. At the counter, you must clearly state that you are requesting priority review because of urgent travel. You must also explain your reason convincingly — such as a flight departing soon, an emergency business meeting, or a medical appointment in China. The staff will then assess your case and decide whether to accept your priority request.
The CVASC team will verify whether your online application and uploaded documents are complete, accurate, and error-free. If your documentation is perfect and all uploaded files are valid and legible, your application may be placed into same-day formal processing, allowing the Chinese Embassy to review your file immediately. However, if any document is unclear, incomplete, or inconsistent — such as mismatched dates or incorrect names — your request will be denied, and you will be asked to correct and resubmit the application. This will push your case to the back of the queue, causing more delay instead of speeding it up.
Applicants should also be aware that even if the CVASC accepts a priority review request, it does not guarantee same-day visa issuance. The Embassy’s final processing time remains 2–4 working days, counted from the date your passport and all documents enter formal review. The benefit of priority review is that it allows your application to move into processing faster, bypassing the waiting period between online approval and official embassy review.
To strengthen your request, you should bring evidence of urgency, such as flight tickets, company invitation letters mentioning urgent meetings, hospital appointment letters, or government dispatch orders. Having a clear and verifiable reason significantly increases the chances that the CVASC officer will accept your request. The Embassy expects applicants to be honest — false urgency claims can result in rejection or blacklisting.
You should also monitor your email and application portal after requesting priority review. The Embassy often sends follow-up instructions or additional document requests by email, and prompt response is crucial to avoid losing your priority status. It is also advisable to visit the CVASC early in the morning, as morning hours are less crowded and priority cases are often handled sooner before the regular processing line builds up.
The CVASC charges different fees for express and regular processing, which must be paid in cash or via QR code at the center. Express options may shorten your turnaround time if your documents are perfect and your reason for urgency is justified. However, the Embassy still retains full authority to decide the processing timeline depending on workload and visa category.
Finally, remember that the success of a priority review depends entirely on document quality, completeness, and genuine urgency. Submitting incomplete applications under the pretext of urgency only causes rejection and further delays. Prepare well, justify honestly, and communicate clearly with CVASC staff.
