Malaysia e-Visa Rejection Reasons and How to Re-apply from Nepal

Applying for a Malaysia e-Visa from Nepal is simple through the official MYVISA portal (https://malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my), but many applicants face rejection due to small mistakes or incomplete documentation. The Immigration Department of Malaysia carefully reviews every application, and approval depends on accuracy, authenticity, and completeness of documents. Even though the department is not required to disclose the specific reason for rejection, several common factors are known to cause e-Visa refusals.
Common Rejection Reasons:
The most frequent cause is incomplete or incorrect information — applicants forgetting to upload required documents, entering wrong passport numbers, or submitting unclear scans. Another major reason is photo and document mismatch; for instance, photos that do not meet the official white background requirement or are taken from a phone instead of a studio.
Additionally, insufficient financial proof (like a low bank balance), expired or soon-to-expire passport, or unclear travel plans often lead to rejection. Applicants who fail to show they will return to Nepal after visiting Malaysia — for example, no job letter or family tie proof — may also be rejected under “weak travel intent.”
Previous visa violations, overstays, or applying from an unauthorized location (such as inside Malaysia) can also automatically disqualify an application. Technical issues like incorrect file types, large upload sizes, or blurred copies have also caused denials.
How to Re-apply after Rejection:
If your Malaysia e-Visa is rejected, you can apply again immediately — but only after correcting all the mistakes from your previous submission. Begin by reviewing your earlier application to identify missing or unclear points. Prepare your documents carefully this time:
Use a valid Nepali passport with at least six months’ validity.
Take a new studio photo with a white background.
Re-upload clear color scans of the passport biodata page, flight ticket, accommodation proof, and bank statement showing enough funds for your trip.
Write a cover letter addressed to “The Immigration Officer, Malaysia” explaining your travel purpose, duration of stay, and assurance to return to Nepal.
Apply only from Nepal or a country where you legally reside, not from Malaysia.
Reapply through the official MYVISA website, not through third-party agents.
Pay the visa fee and processing charge again (fees are non-refundable, even if the earlier application was rejected).
Submit your new application at least 14 days before your travel date to allow sufficient processing time.
Pro Tips to Avoid Future Rejections:
Double-check all personal details and passport numbers before submission.
Ensure your documents are legible, properly scanned, and in the correct file format (JPEG or PDF).
Never provide misleading information; consistency builds trust.
Maintain a clean travel history — avoid overstaying or violating visa terms in any country.
