Required Documents for China Tourist Visa from Nepal

Applying for a China Tourist Visa (L Visa) from Nepal in 2025 requires careful preparation and correct documentation to ensure smooth visa approval. The Chinese Embassy in Nepal and the Chinese Visa Application Service Center, located at Rising Mall, Kamaladi, Kathmandu, handle all applications for Nepali citizens. Submitting all required documents accurately and in the right format increases the chances of quick approval and avoids unnecessary delays or rejections.

The first and most essential document is a valid passport. Your passport must have at least six months of remaining validity beyond your planned date of entry to China and must include at least two blank visa pages. If you’ve traveled abroad before, it is also recommended to include a copy of previous visas to demonstrate travel history.

Next, applicants must submit a completed China Visa Application Form, which can be filled online through visaforchina.cn. Once completed, print the form and sign it before submission. Along with this, applicants must attach a recent passport-size color photograph taken within the last six months, against a plain white background. The photo must clearly show the applicant’s face without glasses or headwear (unless worn for religious reasons).

Travel documents are equally important. You will need to show confirmed flight reservations (both onward and return tickets) and hotel bookings that match your itinerary in China. These documents prove your purpose of travel and duration of stay. In some cases, if you are invited by a friend or family member in China, you will need an invitation letter containing their name, contact information, address, relationship to you, and a copy of their Chinese ID or residence permit.

To verify your financial capacity, the Chinese Embassy requires a recent bank statement (3–6 months) showing adequate funds to cover your stay and expenses. The recommended balance is at least equivalent to USD 1,000–1,500 per person for a short stay. If you are employed or a student, you should also provide an employment certificate or student letter indicating your position, study status, and leave approval for travel. For business travelers, a company registration certificate or business license copy may also be required.

Applicants are advised to include travel insurance covering medical emergencies, flight cancellations, or unexpected events during their stay in China. Additional supporting documents, such as a copy of citizenship, PAN card, or marriage certificate (if traveling with a spouse), may also be requested by the visa center.

Once all documents are prepared, applicants must submit them in person at the Chinese Visa Application Service Center. As of 2025, fingerprint collection has been temporarily waived until December 31, 2025, which has made the process much faster. The visa processing time usually takes 4–7 working days, and express services are available for urgent travel.
