९ महिनामा ५४% बजेट खर्च, पुँजीगत खर्च अझै कमजोर54% Budget Spent in 9 Months, Capital Expenditure Remains Weak

The Government of Nepal has spent around 54 percent of its total budget in the first nine months of the fiscal year 2082/83. Out of the total allocated budget of NPR 19.64 trillion, NPR 10.59 trillion has been spent by mid-Chaitra, according to the Financial Comptroller General Office. A significant portion of the expenditure has gone towards recurrent spending, with NPR 7.47 trillion spent out of the allocated NPR 11.80 trillion. Recurrent expenses mainly cover day-to-day administrative and operational costs and do not generate long-term returns. Meanwhile, capital expenditure remains notably low, with only NPR 96.19 billion spent out of the allocated NPR 407 billion, accounting for just 23.58 percent. The slowdown in capital spending is attributed to construction challenges, including a shortage of bitumen fuel caused by tensions in the Middle East. Additionally, under public debt management, NPR 216 billion has been spent out of the allocated NPR 375 billion for debt servicing. During the same period, the government collected NPR 907 billion in revenue, including NPR 886 billion from tax sources.
