निजी क्षेत्रको नयाँ आवाजका रूपमा हेर्न थालियो श्रेष्ठलाई
नेपाल उद्योग वाणिज्य महासंघ (एफएनसीसीआई) को अध्यक्ष पदमा आजदेखि व्यवसायी अञ्जन श्रेष्ठले औपचारिक रूपमा जिम्मेवारी सम्हालेका छन्। महासंघको विधानअनुसार अघिल्लो निर्वाचनमा वरिष्ठ उपाध्यक्षमा निर्वाचित भएका श्रेष्ठ स्वतः अध्यक्ष बनेका हुन्। निजी क्षेत्रको सबैभन्दा ठूलो छाता संगठनको नेतृत्वमा पुगेपछि अब मुलुकको आर्थिक नीति, उद्योग व्यवसाय र निजी क्षेत्रका मुद्दामा उनको भूमिका अझ प्रभावशाली हुने देखिएको छ।
महासंघमा श्रेष्ठको यात्रा भने एकाएक बनेको होइन। करिब दुई दशकभन्दा लामो समयदेखि उनले महासंघभित्र विभिन्न तह र जिम्मेवारी सम्हाल्दै आएका थिए। २०५९ सालमा कार्यसमिति सदस्यबाट सुरु भएको उनको यात्रा राजस्व समिति उपसभापति, उद्योग समिति सभापति, रोजगारदाता परिषद सदस्य हुँदै अन्ततः अध्यक्ष पदसम्म पुगेको हो। महासंघको ५७औँ साधारणसभाबाट वरिष्ठ उपाध्यक्षमा निर्वाचित भएपछि उनी स्वतः भावी अध्यक्षका रूपमा स्थापित भएका थिए।
व्यवसायिक पृष्ठभूमितर्फ हेर्दा श्रेष्ठ नेपाली उद्योग क्षेत्रका पुराना र अनुभवी व्यवसायीमध्ये एक मानिन्छन्। उनले २०४५ सालदेखि परिवारले सञ्चालन गरेको कन्फेक्सनरी उद्योगबाट आफ्नो व्यवसायिक यात्रा सुरु गरेका थिए। अहिले उक्त उद्योग “सुजल फुड” का नाममा परिचित छ। खाद्य उद्योगबाट सुरु भएको यात्रा विस्तार हुँदै अहिले बहुआयामिक औद्योगिक समूहमा रूपान्तरण भएको छ।
लक्ष्मी ग्रुपअन्तर्गत उनले प्याकेजिङ, ट्रेडिङ, स्टिल तथा अटोमोबाइल क्षेत्रमा व्यवसाय विस्तार गरेका छन्। विशेषगरी दक्षिण कोरियाली ब्रान्ड Hyundai गाडीको आधिकारिक वितरकका रूपमा समूहले नेपाली अटोमोबाइल बजारमा बलियो उपस्थिति बनाएको छ। पछिल्ला वर्षहरूमा समूहले स्टिल उत्पादन र सवारीसाधन असेम्बल उद्योगमा समेत लगानी बढाएको छ, जसलाई स्वदेशमै औद्योगिक उत्पादन विस्तार गर्ने रणनीतिक कदमका रूपमा हेरिएको छ।
नयाँ अध्यक्षका रूपमा श्रेष्ठले उद्योगी व्यवसायीको आत्मविश्वास बढाउने, लगानीमैत्री वातावरण निर्माण गर्ने तथा निजी क्षेत्र र सरकारबीचको समन्वयलाई बलियो बनाउने चुनौती सामना गर्नुपर्नेछ। पछिल्लो समय आर्थिक सुस्तता, लगानी संकट, उच्च ब्याजदर र बजारमा देखिएको अनिश्चितताका बीच एफएनसीसीआईको नेतृत्व सम्हाल्नु आफैंमा महत्वपूर्ण जिम्मेवारी मानिएको छ।

From Confectionery Business to Automobile and Steel Expansion
Businessman Anjan Shrestha has officially assumed the role of President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) from today. According to the federation’s statute, Shrestha automatically ascended to the presidency after being elected Senior Vice President in the previous election. With this transition, Nepal’s largest private sector umbrella organization now enters a new phase under his leadership.
Shrestha’s rise to the top position did not happen overnight. His journey within FNCCI began nearly 24 years ago in 2059 B.S. as an executive committee member. Over the years, he served in several important roles including Deputy Coordinator of the Revenue Committee, Chairperson of the Industry Committee, and member of the Employers’ Council. He later emerged as the Senior Vice President through the federation’s 57th General Assembly, paving the way for his current leadership role.
Professionally, Shrestha is regarded as one of Nepal’s experienced and influential industrialists. He began his business career in 2045 B.S. through a family-run confectionery business, which later evolved into Sujal Foods. What started as a food-related enterprise gradually expanded into a diversified industrial group with investments across multiple sectors.
Under the umbrella of the Laxmi Group, Shrestha has expanded businesses into packaging, trading, steel manufacturing, and automobiles. The group has established a strong presence in Nepal’s automobile sector as the official distributor of Hyundai vehicles. In recent years, the group has also moved aggressively into steel production and vehicle assembly industries, reflecting its broader industrial ambitions within Nepal.
As the new FNCCI President, Shrestha now faces the challenge of strengthening private sector confidence at a time when Nepal’s economy is dealing with slow growth, weak investment sentiment, high interest rates, and market uncertainty. Many in the business community are expecting the new leadership to push for stronger coordination between the government and private sector while advocating for investment-friendly policies and industrial expansion.
