Artificial intelligence company Anthropic has introduced a new feature in its AI chatbot Claude, enabling it to explain complex concepts using charts and diagrams. The company said the feature is currently available in beta, meaning it is still in a testing phase. With the latest update, Claude can now provide answers not only through text but also by displaying visual elements when necessary. Users can directly request charts or diagrams, and Claude may also generate them automatically if it determines that visual content would help explain a topic more clearly.According to the company, this feature will be particularly useful for explaining step-by-step processes and complicated ideas. For example, if a user asks how to make a paper airplane, Claude can now display diagrams showing how to fold the paper at each step. This allows users to understand the process visually rather than relying solely on written instructions.Anthropic clarified that this capability is not an image generation system. Instead, Claude creates charts and diagrams using HTML code and XML-based vector graphics. The company described the feature as giving Claude the ability to use its own digital whiteboard to illustrate explanations. The feature will be available to all Claude users, regardless of whether they have a paid subscription or are using the free version. However, Anthropic warned that since the feature is still in beta, users may occasionally encounter errors or inconsistencies. For now, the feature is not available on the mobile version. The update comes just days after OpenAI introduced a similar capability in ChatGPT, allowing it to generate interactive visuals to help explain science and mathematics concepts. This development highlights the growing competition among AI companies to create new ways of helping users understand complex topics more easily.
