Api Power Company Limited has signed an agreement with Troyer AG, Italy for the supply and installation of electro-mechanical equipment for the 50 MW Marsyangdi Besi Hydropower Project, as part of its plan to expand power generation capacity. The project is located in Besisahar Municipality, Lamjung District, and is considered one of Nepal’s major upcoming hydropower initiatives.

Under the agreement, Troyer AG will be responsible for the supply, installation, and commissioning of the equipment. The agreement was signed by Hanspeter Scholzhorn, Head of Sales at Troyer AG (Italy); Pawan Dhakal, Chairman of Troyer Hydro Pvt. Ltd. (India); and Satish Nyaupane, Chairman of Divya Jyoti Hydropower Limited, the project’s promoter company.

According to Troyer, the Marsyangdi Besi project will feature one of the largest Francis turbines ever installed in Nepal. The company has already supplied equipment for Super Chepe (9.05 MW) and Thulo Khola (21.3 MW) projects, both operational. Similarly, Mewa Khola (50 MW), Seti Khola (22 MW), and Syarpu Khola (3.3 MW) are in the final stages of installation and testing.

Troyer is also involved in the design and construction of several other projects, including Nyasim Khola (38.5 MW), Upper Khudi (26 MW), Sabha Khola B (32.25 MW), Luja Khola (24.98 MW), Upper Myagdi (46.25 MW), Upper Myagdi–1 (53.5 MW), and Dudhpokhari Chepe (11 MW).

To strengthen long-term technical services in Nepal, Troyer has established a warehouse in Kathmandu and formed a local technical team to ensure timely support and maintenance for clients.

As per the contract, Troyer AG will complete the supply, installation, and testing works within two years, enabling the project to begin electricity generation.

The project involves an estimated investment of around NPR 10 billion, with 30% equity financing from the promoter group and 70% debt financing from banks. The company targets commercial operation within two years and six months.

Electricity generated from the project will be connected to the Nepal Electricity Authority’s Udipur substation, contributing significantly to the national transmission grid.

Earlier, Api Power Company Limited had decided to acquire all shares of Divya Jyoti Hydropower Limited, the promoter of the Marsyangdi Besi Hydropower Project. Following financial and technical evaluation, the ownership and management of the company will now remain under the majority control of Api Power Company Limited.
