सिन्धुलीमा नेपाल एसबीआई बैंकमा सशस्त्र लुटपाट, ४ जना पक्राउ, १ करोड ८० लाखभन्दा बढी रकम बरामदArmed Robbery at Nepal SBI Bank in Sindhuli: Four Arrested, Over NPR 180 Million Recovered
सिन्धुली । सिन्धुली जिल्लाको घ्याङ्लेख गाउँपालिका–२ बस्तीपुरस्थित Nepal SBI Bank को हायुटार शाखामा मंगलबार राति सशस्त्र लुटपाट भएको छ। नकाबधारी पाँच–छ जनाको समूहले बैंकमा प्रवेश गरी लुटपाट गर्दा एक जना सुरक्षा गार्ड घाइते भएका छन् भने ठूलो रकम लुटिएको प्रहरीले जनाएको छ।
जिल्ला प्रहरी कार्यालय सिन्धुलीका अनुसार मंगलबार साँझ करिब ८:४० बजे लुटेराहरूले बैंकका सुरक्षा गार्ड रुद्रबहादुर कार्कीलाई नियन्त्रणमा लिएर खुकुरी प्रहार गरी घाइते बनाएका थिए। त्यसपछि बैंकका कर्मचारीलाई समेत नियन्त्रणमा लिएर ३ करोड १० लाख ९५ हजार २८३ रुपैयाँ लुटेर फरार भएका थिए।
लुटेराहरू भाग्ने क्रममा स्थानीयको होहल्लापछि केही रकम बोकेको बोरा घटनास्थलमै छाडेर भागेको र थप खोजतलासका क्रममा घटनास्थलको २–३ किलोमिटर क्षेत्रभित्र विभिन्न स्थानबाट रकम फेला परेको प्रहरीले जनाएको छ। जिल्ला प्रहरी कार्यालय सिन्धुलीका प्रमुख एसपी लालध्वज सुवेदीका अनुसार हालसम्म १ करोड ८० लाख १० हजार ५०० रुपैयाँ बरामद गरिएको छ।
घटनापछि प्रहरीले लुटपाटमा प्रयोग भएको बा.डी.०३९८ नम्बरको टाढा सुमो जीप र चालक भवत सिंह थापालाई नियन्त्रणमा लिएको छ। चालकका अनुसार ‘केटी भगाउनु छ’ भन्ने बहानामा सुमो रिजर्भ गरिएको थियो। प्रारम्भिक अनुसन्धानपछि चालकलाई नियन्त्रणमा लिएर थप अनुसन्धान भइरहेको प्रहरीले जनाएको छ।
यसैबीच, लुटपाटमा संलग्नमध्ये ४ जना व्यक्ति घ्याङ्लेख गाउँपालिका–१ सुकाचुरी क्षेत्रबाट स्थानीयको सहयोगमा पक्राउ परेका छन्। पक्राउ परेकाहरूबारे थप विवरण संकलन भइरहेको एसपी सुवेदीले जानकारी दिए।
प्रहरीका अनुसार फरार रहेका अन्य संलग्नहरूको खोजी तीव्र पारिएको छ भने घटनासम्बन्धी अनुसन्धान जारी छ। बैंक सुरक्षा व्यवस्था, घटनामा प्रयोग भएका हतियार तथा लुटिएको बाँकी रकमको खोजीमा प्रहरी परिचालन गरिएको छ।
नेपाल एसबीआई बैंकको हायुटार शाखामा भएको यो घटनाले ग्रामीण क्षेत्रमा बैंक सुरक्षाको चुनौती र आपराधिक गतिविधिमाथि थप सतर्कता आवश्यक रहेको संकेत गरेको छ।

An armed group carried out a robbery at the Nepal SBI Bank branch located in Ghyanglekh Rural Municipality–2, Bastipur–Hayutar, on Tuesday night. Police have arrested four suspects in connection with the incident and recovered a significant portion of the stolen cash.
According to the District Police Office, Sindhuli, the robbery occurred at around 8:40 PM when a group of five to six masked individuals entered the bank premises. The assailants overpowered the security guard, Rudra Bahadur Karki, injuring him with a khukuri, and took bank staff under control before looting the cash vault.
Police stated that the robbers fled with NPR 310,95,283 (over NPR 31 million). However, while escaping, the suspects dropped a bag containing cash after locals raised an alarm. During subsequent searches within a 2–3 kilometer radius of the incident site, police recovered additional cash.
As of now, NPR 180,10,500 (over NPR 18 million) has been recovered from various locations with the help of local residents, confirmed SP Lal Dhwaj Subedi, Chief of the District Police Office, Sindhuli.
Vehicle and Driver Detained
Police have also taken into custody a Tata Sumo jeep (Ba.Di. 0398) believed to have been used in the robbery, along with its driver, Bhavat Singh Thapa. During preliminary questioning, the driver claimed that the vehicle had been reserved under the pretext of eloping a girl. Police are investigating the credibility of this statement and the driver’s possible involvement.
Four Suspects Arrested
Later on Tuesday night, police arrested four individuals involved in the robbery from Ghyanglekh Rural Municipality–1, Sukachuri area, with assistance from local residents. Authorities said further details regarding the arrested suspects are being verified.
Investigation Ongoing
Police have intensified the search for the remaining suspects who are still at large. Investigations are underway to determine the full network involved, recover the remaining stolen amount, and assess security lapses at the bank branch.
The incident has raised concerns over bank security in rural and semi-urban areas, prompting calls for stronger safety measures and coordination between banks and local law enforcement agencies.
