अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति डोनाल्ड ट्रम्पले चीनमाथि लगाएको भारी भन्सार महसुल घटाउने सम्झौताको सम्भावना रहेको भन्दै दिएको अभिव्यक्तिलाई चीनले आधारहीन भनेको छ। बेइजिङले बिहीबार स्पष्ट रूपमा जनाएको छ कि चीन र संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका बीच हाल कुनै आर्थिक वा व्यापार वार्ता चलिरहेको छैन।
चीनका वाणिज्य मन्त्रालयका प्रवक्ता हे याडोङले एक पत्रकार सम्मेलनमा भने, “चीन–अमेरिका आर्थिक र व्यापार वार्ताको प्रगतिको बारेमा कुनै पनि दाबी आधारहीन छ र त्यसको कुनै तथ्यगत प्रमाण छैन।” उनले अमेरिका पक्षलाई आफ्ना "गलत अभ्यासहरू" सुधार्न र समान संवादमा फर्किन आग्रह गरे।
हाल विश्वका दुई सबैभन्दा ठूला अर्थतन्त्रहरू गम्भीर व्यापार युद्धको चरणमा पुगेका छन्। ट्रम्प प्रशासनले चिनियाँ उत्पादनहरूमा उच्च भन्सार महसुल लगाएको छ, जसको दर कतिपय वस्तुमा १४५ प्रतिशतसम्म पुगेको छ। यसको जवाफमा चीनले पनि अमेरिकी वस्तुहरूमा १२५ प्रतिशतसम्मको नयाँ भन्सार महसुल लगाएको छ।
ट्रम्पले भन्सार महसुललाई अमेरिका भित्रको उत्पादन क्षमताको पुनःस्थापनाको प्रयास तथा अनुचित व्यापार अभ्यासविरुद्धको कारबाहीको रूपमा व्याख्या गरेका छन्। यद्यपि विश्लेषकहरूले यो कदमले विश्व बजारमा अनिश्चितता बढाएको र सम्भावित विश्वव्यापी मन्दीको जोखिम निम्त्याएको बताएका छन्।
बुधवार पत्रकारहरूसँग कुराकानी गर्दै राष्ट्रपति ट्रम्पले “सबै कुरा सक्रिय छ” भन्दै अमेरिका चीनसँग निष्पक्ष सम्झौता गर्न इच्छुक रहेको बताए। उनले चीनसँग प्रत्यक्ष सम्पर्कबारे प्रश्न गर्दा “हरेक दिन” भन्ने उत्तर दिएका थिए।
तर चीनको ताजा प्रतिक्रिया अमेरिकासँग जारी संवादको दाबीलाई स्पष्ट रूपमा अस्वीकार गर्ने खालको रहेको छ, जसले दुई देशबीचको व्यापार विवाद अझ चर्किने संकेत देखिएको छ।
China has labeled U.S. President Donald Trump’s suggestion of a possible deal to reduce tariffs as "groundless," asserting that no trade negotiations are currently taking place between the two nations. The statement was made on Thursday, further intensifying tensions between the world’s two largest economies.
Chinese Ministry of Commerce spokesperson He Yadong, in a press conference, stated, “As the competent department for foreign economic and trade relations, I want to emphasize that there are currently no economic or trade talks underway between China and the United States.” He added, “Any claims about progress in China-U.S. trade talks are baseless and have no factual support. China urges the U.S. to correct its wrongful practices, demonstrate sincerity, and return to the right path of equal dialogue and consultation.”
The two countries have been locked in a deepening trade war, triggered by Trump’s imposition of heavy tariffs on Chinese goods. Some U.S. tariffs have reached as high as 145 percent on certain Chinese imports. In response, Beijing has levied up to 125 percent in new tariffs on U.S. goods.
President Trump has defended the tariffs as a countermeasure against unfair trade practices and as part of efforts to revive American manufacturing. However, the aggressive tariff moves have rattled global markets and raised concerns about a potential worldwide economic downturn.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Trump claimed that “everything is active” and said the U.S. is working toward a “fair deal” with China. When asked whether there was direct contact with China, he replied, “Every day.”
Beijing’s outright denial of any ongoing negotiations directly contradicts Trump’s comments, signaling that the trade standoff may be far from resolution.
