Drone Attack Sparks Fire Near Dubai International Airport
Kathmandu: A drone attack in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), has caused a fire near Dubai International Airport. According to the Dubai Media Office, the fire broke out at a fuel storage tank close to the airport on Monday. Civil defense teams promptly reached the site to control the blaze. Officials have confirmed that no human casualties were reported. Reuters noted that two drones fell near the airport. Following the incident, Dubai Airport issued a travel advisory and suspended flights until further notice.Since February 28, tensions between the United States–Israel and Iran have escalated, leading to a significant increase in missile and drone attacks across the Gulf region. More than 2,000 such attacks have been reported in Gulf countries since then. Targets have included not only U.S. diplomatic offices and military bases but also oil infrastructure, ports, airports, hotels, and residential and commercial buildings. The UAE has been among the most affected, particularly after normalizing diplomatic relations with Israel in 2020.
