Under the slogan “Domestic Production, Our Campaign,” the Domestic Entrepreneurs Fair and Dashain Festival 2081 will be held at the National Assembly Hall premises in Exhibition Road, Kathmandu, starting this Sunday. Organized jointly by the Federation of Small and Cottage Industries Kathmandu and Kathmandu Metropolitan City, the festival will run from Ashwin 13 to 23 (September 29 to October 9), showcasing the products of small, cottage, and women-led enterprises, as well as agricultural entrepreneurs from the Kathmandu district.
The fair will feature 70 stalls exhibiting local food delicacies, traditional products, natural fiber-based clothing, and locally made shoes, among other products. In addition, interactive sessions, discussions, cultural programs, and food festivals will add to the fair's appeal.
Padma Kumari Karki, President of the Federation of Small and Cottage Industries Kathmandu, stated that the fair aims to promote domestic industries' products, helping to market them and contribute to reducing unemployment. The Federation's Secretary, Jitendra Kumar Shrestha, emphasized the need for government support to reduce costs and enhance the competitiveness of domestic products in the market.
The successful organization of the fair is expected to play a significant role in branding domestic products, reducing the trade deficit, and creating local employment opportunities.
