‘स्वर्णिम’ लक्ष्य : १०० अर्ब डलर अर्थतन्त्रका लागि निजी क्षेत्र अपरिहार्य‘Golden Target’: Private Sector Key to Achieving $100 Billion Economy, Says Finance Minister
नेपालको अर्थतन्त्रलाई नयाँ उचाइमा पुर्याउने लक्ष्यसहित सरकारले निजी क्षेत्रलाई केन्द्रमा राखेर नीति अघि बढाउने संकेत दिएको छ। अर्थमन्त्री डा. स्वर्णिम वाग्ले ले आगामी वर्षहरूमा अर्थतन्त्रलाई विस्तार गर्दै १०० अर्ब डलरको आकारमा पुर्याउन निजी क्षेत्रको सक्रिय सहभागिता अनिवार्य रहेको बताएका छन्।
सोमबार नेपाल उद्योग वाणिज्य महासंघ को ६० औँ वार्षिक साधारण सभालाई सम्बोधन गर्दै उनले आर्थिक रूपान्तरणको यात्रामा निजी क्षेत्रलाई प्रमुख साझेदारका रूपमा अघि बढाउनुपर्ने आवश्यकता औंल्याए। उनका अनुसार सरकार केवल नियामकको भूमिकामा सीमित नबसी, सहकार्य र सहजीकरणमार्फत निजी क्षेत्रलाई सशक्त बनाउने दिशामा केन्द्रित भएको छ।
अर्थमन्त्री वाग्लेले सरकारले निजी क्षेत्रको संरक्षण र प्रवर्द्धनका लागि रणनीतिक निर्णयहरू गरिसकेको जानकारी दिए। मन्त्रिपरिषद्ले उद्योग, वाणिज्य तथा आपूर्ति मन्त्रालयको प्रस्ताव पारित गर्दै निजी क्षेत्रमैत्री नीतिगत ढाँचा निर्माणतर्फ महत्वपूर्ण कदम अघि बढाएको उनले बताए। लगानीको वातावरण सुधार, प्रक्रियागत झन्झट हटाउने र नीतिगत स्थायित्व सुनिश्चित गर्ने सरकारको प्राथमिकतामा रहेको उनले स्पष्ट पारे।
उनले करिब सात वर्षको अवधिमा अर्थतन्त्रलाई १०० अर्ब डलरको स्तरमा पुर्याउने लक्ष्य राखिएको उल्लेख गर्दै उत्पादन, लगानी र रोजगारीमा तीव्र विस्तार आवश्यक हुने बताए। “अर्थतन्त्रलाई फराकिलो बनाउने, नयाँ उद्योग स्थापना गर्ने र निर्यात बढाउने काममा निजी क्षेत्रको भूमिका निर्णायक हुन्छ,” उनले भने।
रोजगारी सिर्जनामा निजी क्षेत्रको योगदान उल्लेखनीय रहेको उल्लेख गर्दै उनले सरकार र निजी क्षेत्रबीचको सहकार्य अझ मजबुत बनाउनुपर्नेमा जोड दिए। उनका अनुसार आर्थिक वृद्धि मात्र नभई दिगो र समावेशी विकास सुनिश्चित गर्न पनि निजी क्षेत्रको सक्रियता अपरिहार्य छ।
अर्थमन्त्रीले निजी क्षेत्रको विश्वास जित्दै लगानीमैत्री वातावरण निर्माण गर्ने प्रतिबद्धता व्यक्त गरे। नीतिगत स्पष्टता, प्रशासनिक सहजीकरण र दीर्घकालीन स्थायित्वमार्फत आर्थिक सुधारका कार्यक्रम अघि बढाइने उनले बताए। निजी क्षेत्रलाई सशक्त बनाउँदै समग्र अर्थतन्त्रलाई दीर्घकालीन रूपमा मजबुत बनाउने सरकारको लक्ष्य रहेको उनको भनाइ छ।
The government has signaled a strong policy shift toward empowering the private sector to drive Nepal’s economic growth. Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has stated that active participation of the private sector is essential to expand the economy to a $100 billion size in the coming years.
Speaking at the 60th Annual General Meeting of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, he emphasized that the private sector must be treated as a key partner in Nepal’s economic transformation. According to him, the government is focusing not only on regulation but also on facilitation and collaboration to strengthen private sector confidence.
The Finance Minister informed that the government has already taken strategic decisions to support and promote the private sector. The Cabinet has approved a proposal from the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies to develop a private sector–friendly policy framework. He highlighted that improving the investment climate, simplifying procedures, and ensuring policy stability are among the government’s top priorities.
Dr. Wagle stated that Nepal aims to reach a $100 billion economy within approximately seven years, which will require significant expansion in production, investment, and employment. “The private sector will play a decisive role in expanding the economy, establishing new industries, and boosting exports,” he said.
He also acknowledged the private sector’s critical contribution to job creation and stressed the need to further strengthen cooperation between the government and businesses. According to him, sustainable and inclusive economic growth cannot be achieved without active private sector engagement.
The Finance Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to building an investment-friendly environment by ensuring policy clarity, administrative ease, and long-term stability. He emphasized that strengthening the private sector will be key to achieving broader economic resilience and sustained growth.
