Government of Nepal ends token system, labour approval for foreign employment to be granted on the same day

Kathmandu: The Government of Nepal has decided to end the token system used for labour approval for foreign employment and provide approval on the same day an application is submitted. A meeting held on Sunday in the presence of Deepak Kumar Sah decided to simplify and speed up the service for migrant workers, according to the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security. The government has also announced plans to digitalize pre-departure orientation training, make audio-visual materials available online, include all workers in the Social Security Fund, and fully implement the minimum wage. The meeting also discussed strengthening the Shramadhan call center, improving occupational health and safety in industries, creating more domestic employment opportunities, and expanding bilateral labour agreements with five additional countries. The ministry further stated that the government will study the safety, minimum wage, and working conditions of Nepali workers abroad and prepare minimum standards while organizing skill fairs in all provinces to promote employment.
