Government Sets Target to Export IT Services Worth NPR 3 Trillion in the Next Decade

The government has set an ambitious target to export IT services worth NPR 3 trillion over the next decade. This goal, outlined in the upcoming fiscal year's budget, aims to create 500,000 direct and 1 million indirect job opportunities.
Finance Minister Barshaman Pun, while presenting the budget, declared the forthcoming decade as the "Decade of Information Technology." The government plans to advance IT as the backbone of the economy, establish data centers, and ensure intellectual property protection among other initiatives. For these projects, NPR 590 million has been allocated.
The government also intends to establish IT parks in Kathmandu Valley and Butwal by utilizing available government and private buildings, creating work hubs for three years. Additionally, NPR 170 million has been allocated for the establishment of a Knowledge Park in Khumaltar, Lalitpur.
The storage and reliability of electronic data have been enhanced, and provisions have been made to offer internships to youth studying in the IT sector. This initiative is expected to boost the IT industry in Nepal, provide significant employment opportunities, and contribute substantially to the country's economic growth.
