गभर्नर पौडेलको पहिलो निर्णय : एक हजार र पचास रुपैयाँको नोट छापिनेGovernor Paudel's First Decision: NPR 1,000 and 50 Notes to Be Printed
नेपाल राष्ट्र बैंकका नवनियुक्त गभर्नर डा. विश्वनाथ पौडेलले कार्यभार सम्हाले लगत्तै पहिलो निर्णयस्वरूप नयाँ एक हजार रुपैयाँ र पचास रुपैयाँ दरका नोट छपाइको प्रक्रिया अघि बढाउने निर्णय गरेका छन्।
नोट छाप्ने प्रक्रिया नियमित ढंगबाट अघि बढ्नेछ। सर्वप्रथम नोटको डिजाइन तयार पार्न डिजाइन समिति गठन हुन्छ। उक्त डिजाइन समितिबाट पास भएपछि सो डिजाइन राष्ट्र बैंकको सञ्चालक समितिमा पेश गरिन्छ र अन्ततः छपाइ प्रक्रिया सुरु हुन्छ।
पाँच सय वा हजार रुपैयाँभन्दा माथिका नोटको आयु सामान्यतः ४ देखि ५ वर्षसम्मको हुने गर्दछ भने साना दरका नोटको आयु करिब ३ वर्षको हुने जनाइएको छ।
नेपाल राष्ट्र बैंकले नयाँ नोट छपाइका लागि पहिलो चरणमा विश्वभरका ६ प्रमुख कम्पनीहरू छनोट गरिसकेको छ। छनोटमा परेका कम्पनीहरूमा चीनको China Bank Note Printing & Minting Corporation, बेलायतको De La Rue International, जर्मनीको Giesecke+Devrient Currency Technology, रसियाको Joint Stock Company, फ्रान्सको Oberthur Fiduciaire SAS र पोल्याण्डको Polish Securities Printing Works रहेका छन्।
यी कम्पनीहरूले आगामी दुई वर्षसम्म हुने सबै नोट छपाइ प्रक्रियामा प्रतिस्पर्धा गर्न पाउने छन्। राष्ट्र बैंकले प्रत्येक आवश्यकताअनुसार टेण्डर आह्वान गर्नेछ र सो प्रक्रियामा सबैभन्दा न्यून लागतमा छपाइ गर्न प्रस्ताव गर्ने कम्पनीलाई टेण्डर दिने व्यवस्था रहेको छ।
गभर्नर पौडेलको यो निर्णयलाई आर्थिक क्षेत्रका विज्ञहरूले सकारात्मक रूपमा लिएका छन्, किनभने नियमित नोट आपूर्ति र मूल्यको निरन्तरताका लागि समयमै नोट छपाइको तयारी गर्नु अत्यावश्यक मानिन्छ।
Newly appointed Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Dr. Bishnu Nath Paudel, has made his first official decision after assuming office — to initiate the printing process of NPR 1,000 and NPR 50 denomination banknotes.
Deputy Governor Bam Bahadur Mishra confirmed the decision, stating, “The first decision made by Governor Paudel includes the printing of NPR 1,000 and NPR 50 notes. As per the standard procedure, the design committee will first prepare the note designs. Once the designs are approved by the committee, they will be submitted to the NRB board for final approval before moving ahead with the printing process.”
The decision follows the regular note printing protocol. Typically, high-denomination notes like NPR 500 and NPR 1,000 have a lifespan of 4 to 5 years, while lower denominations generally last around 3 years.
Recently, Nepal Rastra Bank shortlisted six international companies for the upcoming currency printing tasks. These companies include:
China Banknote Printing & Minting Corporation (China)
De La Rue International (UK)
Giesecke+Devrient Currency Technology (Germany)
Joint Stock Company (Russia)
Oberthur Fiduciaire SAS (France)
Polish Securities Printing Works (Poland)
These pre-qualified firms will now be eligible to compete in every tender issued by NRB over the next two years for note printing. Each time new currency is required, NRB will announce a competitive bidding process, and the company offering the lowest bid will be awarded the contract.
Experts in the financial sector have welcomed Governor Paudel’s proactive move, emphasizing that timely planning for currency printing is vital for maintaining monetary supply and economic stability.
