बौद्धस्थित हायात रिजेन्सी होटल र कर्मचारीबीच होटलको पुनर्निर्माण अवधिभर श्रमिकलाई न्यूनतम पारिश्रमिक उपलब्ध गराउने सहमति भएको छ। जेन जेनेरेशन (Gen Z) आन्दोलनका क्रममा भदौ २४ गते होटलमा भएको तोडफोड, आगजनी र लुटपाटपछि होटल सञ्चालन बन्द भएको थियो।
होटल व्यवस्थापनका अनुसार ठूलो आर्थिक तथा भौतिक क्षति पुगेकोले होटल पूर्ण रूपमा मर्मत–सम्भार नगरी सञ्चालन असम्भव छ। पुनर्निर्माणका लागि कम्तीमा एक वर्ष लाग्ने अनुमान गर्दै कर्मचारी प्रतिनिधिसँग छलफल गरी सो अवधिभर नेपाल सरकारले तोकेको न्यूनतम आधारभूत तलब दिने सहमति गरिएको हो। साथै सामाजिक सुरक्षा कोषमा पनि सोही अनुपातमा योगदान गरिने छ।
होटल बन्द भए पनि कर्मचारीको रोजीरोटी सुरक्षित रहोस् भन्ने उद्देश्यले सहमति गरिएको व्यवस्थापनले जनाएको छ। मर्मत कार्य सकिएपछि सहमतिमा रहेका कर्मचारीलाई पुनः रोजगारीमा फर्काइनेछ। व्यवस्थापनका अनुसार अधिकांश कर्मचारी सहमतिमा सकारात्मक छन्।
तर सहमतिमा नआउने कर्मचारीका लागि भने श्रमिक कटौतीको प्रक्रिया अपनाइने होटलले जानकारी दिएको छ।
Hyatt Regency Hotel, located in Bouddha, has reached an agreement with its employees to provide them with the government-mandated minimum wage throughout the hotel’s reconstruction period. The hotel has remained closed since the vandalism, arson, and looting carried out during the Gen Z movement on Bhadra 24.
According to the hotel management, the incident caused significant physical and financial damage, making it impossible to resume operations without full repair and restoration. As reconstruction is expected to take at least one year, the management held discussions with employee representatives and agreed to provide minimum basic wages during this period. The hotel will also continue contributing to the Social Security Fund accordingly.
Despite the shutdown, the management stated that the agreement aims to safeguard the livelihood and job security of the employees. Once the repair and reconstruction work is completed, employees who remain in the agreement will be reinstated to their jobs. Most employees have responded positively to the arrangement, according to the management.
However, the hotel also mentioned that employees who do not agree to the terms will be subject to a layoff process.
