काठमाडौं – अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय मुद्रा कोष (IMF) का एसिया तथा प्रशान्त विभागका निर्देशक डा. कृष्ण श्रीनिवासनले नेपाल राष्ट्र बैंकका गभर्नर डा. विश्वनाथ पौडेलसँग शिष्टाचार भेट गरेका छन्। सोमबार बालुवाटारस्थित राष्ट्र बैंकको केन्द्रीय कार्यालयमा भएको भेटवार्तामा नेपाल–आईएमएफ सहकार्य तथा नेपालको आर्थिक अवस्थासम्बन्धी विभिन्न महत्वपूर्ण विषयमा चर्चा गरिएको थियो।
राष्ट्र बैंकका अनुसार भेटका क्रममा दुवै पक्षबीच नेपालको वर्तमान आर्थिक अवस्था, मौद्रिक नीति, राजस्व संकलन, विदेशी मुद्रा सञ्चिति, बैंकिङ क्षेत्रको सुधार, जलवायु जोखिम तथा आईएमएफबाट प्राप्त प्राविधिक सहयोग लगायतका मुद्दामा विस्तृत विचार–विमर्श गरिएको थियो।
गभर्नर पौडेलले नेपालले आर्थिक स्थिरता कायम गर्न तथा सुशासन अभिवृद्धि गर्न चालेका नयाँ कदमहरूबारे निर्देशक श्रीनिवासनलाई जानकारी गराएका थिए। उनले वित्तीय क्षेत्र मजबुत बनाउन गरिरहेका सुधार तथा नियमनका रणनीति पनि प्रस्तुत गरेका थिए।
आईएमएफ निर्देशक श्रीनिवासनले नेपालको अर्थतन्त्र सुधार र वित्तीय स्थायित्वका प्रयासप्रति आईएमएफको निरन्तर सहयोग रहने प्रतिबद्धता व्यक्त गरेको राष्ट्र बैंकले जनाएको छ।
यसअघि डा. श्रीनिवासन नेतृत्वको आईएमएफ टोलीले अर्थ मन्त्रालयका उच्च अधिकारीहरूसँग पनि बैठक गरेको थियो, जहाँ राजकोषीय अवस्था, आर्थिक सुधार कार्यक्रम, ऋण व्यवस्थापन तथा आईएमएफ सहयोगका आगामी चरण बारे छलफल भएको स्रोतले जनाएको छ।
नेपालले आईएमएफमार्फत वर्षौंदेखि प्राविधिक तथा नीतिगत सहयोग प्राप्त गर्दै आएको छ, जसले देशको आर्थिक अनुशासन, मौद्रिक व्यवस्थापन र सुधार प्रक्रियामा महत्वपूर्ण योगदान पुर्याउँदै आएको छ।
Kathmandu – Dr. Krishna Srinivasan, Director of the Asia and Pacific Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), paid a courtesy call on Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Governor Dr. Bishwanath Paudel on Monday. The meeting took place at the central office of NRB in Baluwatar.
According to sources at the central bank, the discussion focused on a wide range of issues concerning Nepal’s current economic situation and ongoing cooperation between Nepal and the IMF. Key topics included Nepal’s macroeconomic condition, monetary policy, revenue collection, foreign exchange reserves, banking sector reforms, climate-related financial risks, and the technical assistance Nepal has been receiving from the IMF.
During the meeting, Governor Dr. Paudel briefed Dr. Srinivasan on Nepal’s recent initiatives aimed at maintaining economic stability and strengthening governance. He highlighted reforms undertaken to improve regulatory oversight and enhance the resilience of the financial sector.
Dr. Srinivasan expressed the IMF’s commitment to continue supporting Nepal’s economic reform agenda and overall financial stability. He assured that the IMF would remain a reliable partner in Nepal’s efforts to improve macroeconomic management and structural reforms.
Earlier, the IMF delegation led by Dr. Srinivasan also held discussions with senior officials at the Ministry of Finance, where they reviewed fiscal conditions, economic reform programs, debt management, and upcoming stages of IMF cooperation.
Nepal has been receiving technical and policy assistance from the IMF for many years, contributing significantly to strengthening the country’s economic governance, monetary management, and reform processes.
