Karnali Province Government Approves Second Periodic Plan

The Karnali Province Government has approved its second periodic plan. This decision was made during the Cabinet meeting held on Friday, as announced by Binod Kumar Shah, Minister for Land Management, Agriculture, and Cooperatives, and the government spokesperson.
According to Minister Shah, the Cabinet also decided to recommend the Province Chief to convene the fifth session of the second tenure of the Karnali Provincial Assembly on January 21 (Magh 7). Additionally, the Cabinet approved initiating discussions in committees on the bill aimed at empowering the Dalit community and enhancing their quality of life. Following this decision, the Unified Dalit Rights Movement Nepal announced the suspension of their 18-day-long protest.
The Cabinet further approved the Local Service (Formation and Operation) Rules, 2081, operational guidelines for the Collective Accident Insurance Program Against Disaster Risk, and the establishment of juvenile correction homes. It also granted conceptual approval for drafting a bill related to the management of mass communication in Karnali Province.
The government decided to invest NPR 414.9 million in shares for the 120 MW Jagadulla Hydropower Project. It also approved the Chief Minister’s Digital Education Program, the Model School Program, and the drafting of a bill to establish the Karnali Academy of Arts.
Minister Shah emphasized that these decisions reflect the province's commitment to good governance, economic growth, and social empowerment.
