काठमाडौँको वायु प्रदूषण ‘अति अस्वस्थकर’, विश्वकै दोस्रो प्रदूषित सहरKathmandu Air Pollution Reaches “Very Unhealthy” Level, Becomes Second Most Polluted City Worldwide

नेपालको राजधानी काठमाडौँमा वायु प्रदूषण ‘अति अस्वस्थकर’ तहमा पुगेको छ। बैशाख १० गते बिहान ११ बजे काठमाडौँको एयर क्वालिटी इन्डेक्स (एक्यूआई) २१६ मापन गरिएको छ, जसले शहरलाई विश्वकै प्रदूषित सहरहरूको सूचीमा दोस्रो स्थानमा पुर्‍याएको छ । World Health Organization का अनुसार एक्यूआई २०१ देखि ३०० सम्म पुगेको अवस्था ‘अति अस्वस्थकर’ मानिन्छ, जसले सम्पूर्ण जनस्वास्थ्यमा गम्भीर असर पार्न सक्छ। यसअघि १०१ देखि १५० सम्मको वायु गुणस्तर बालबालिका, वृद्धवृद्धा तथा दीर्घरोगीका लागि अस्वस्थकर हुन्छ भने १५१ देखि २०० सम्म सबैका लागि अस्वस्थकर मानिन्छ। यस्तो अवस्थामा सर्वसाधारणलाई विशेष सावधानी अपनाउन र बाहिरी गतिविधि कम गर्न सुझाव दिइएको छ ।

Air pollution in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, has reached a “very unhealthy” level. As of 11 AM on Baisakh 10, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in the city was recorded at 216, placing Kathmandu as the second most polluted city in the world. According to the World Health Organization, an AQI between 201 and 300 is categorized as “very unhealthy,” posing serious risks to public health. AQI levels between 101–150 are considered unhealthy for sensitive groups such as children, the elderly, and people with chronic illnesses, while levels between 151–200 are unhealthy for everyone. Authorities have advised the public to take precautions and limit outdoor activities during this period.
