Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), Mahaprasad Adhikari, stated that the upcoming monetary policy for the fiscal year 2081/82 will support the government's budgetary policies and aim for the overall benefit of the country's economy.
During an interaction program on the upcoming year's monetary policy organized by the Nepal Management Association on Monday, Governor Adhikari mentioned that NRB is preparing to introduce the monetary policy by the second week of Shrawan, ensuring financial and monetary stability.
"The monetary policy will be introduced in the first or second week of Shrawan in a way that benefits the country's economy. We will incorporate positive suggestions from all sectors to maintain overall financial stability," he said.
Governor Adhikari noted that the global economy has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine conflict, which has also affected Nepal, necessitating a stringent monetary policy.
He mentioned that the flexibility in the monetary policy introduced in the last quarter of the fiscal year 2079/80 and the beginning of the current fiscal year will continue in the upcoming fiscal year's policy.
Despite the country’s economy reaching a stronger position, the pace of improvement has not been as expected, he noted.
