जनताको जलविद्युत् कार्यक्रमअन्तर्गत निर्माण अघि बढिरहेको १०६ मेगावाट क्षमताको जगदुल्ला जलविद्युत् आयोजनासँगै अब १२४.३५ मेगावाट क्षमताको अर्को क्यासकेड जलविद्युत् आयोजना निर्माण हुने भएको छ । डोल्पा र जाजरकोटको सिमाना क्षेत्रमा पर्ने मुड्केचुला गाउँपालिका र नलगाड नगरपालिकामा फैलिएको यो आयोजना सुरुमा ८२.३ मेगावाट क्षमतामा प्रस्ताव गरिएको भए पनि विस्तृत अध्ययनपछि क्षमता बढाएर निर्माणको तयारी गरिएको हो ।
आयोजनाको प्रवर्द्धन जगदुल्ला हाइड्रोपावर कम्पनी लिमिटेड ले गर्नेछ । कम्पनीले क्षमतासम्बन्धी संशोधनका लागि विद्युत् विकास विभागमा आवेदन पेश गरिसकेको र हाल प्रमाणीकरण प्रक्रियामा रहेको जनाएको छ । पिकिङ रन अफ द रिभर प्रकृतिमा विकास हुने यो आयोजनाको सम्भाव्यता अध्ययन र विस्तृत इन्जिनियरिङ अध्ययन अन्तिम चरणमा पुगेको छ । एनईए इन्जिनियरिङ कम्पनीसँग सन् २०२० डिसेम्बरमा सम्झौता भएको थियो भने सन् २०२४ सेप्टेम्बरमा सम्भाव्यता अध्ययन प्रतिवेदन बुझाइसकिएको छ ।
कम्पनीका अनुसार विस्तृत अध्ययनसँगै वित्तीय व्यवस्थापन पनि सँगसँगै अघि बढाइएको छ । प्रारम्भिक रुपमा करिब ३० अर्ब रुपैयाँ लागत अनुमान गरिएको आयोजनामा विभिन्न बैंक तथा वित्तीय संस्थाको ऋण लगानी रहनेछ । ४७५.३ मिटर ग्रस हेड रहने आयोजनाबाट वार्षिक ७३८.२ गिगावाट विद्युत् उत्पादन गर्ने लक्ष्य छ । १३२ केभी प्रसारण लाइनमार्फत नलगाड हब सवस्टेशनमा विद्युत् जोडिनेछ । करिब ७ किलोमिटर सुरुङमार्ग प्रयोग गरी त्रिवेणी क्षेत्रमा विद्युत् उत्पादन गरिने यो आयोजना आगामी आर्थिक वर्ष २०८३/०८४ देखि निर्माण चरणमा लैजाने र चार वर्षभित्र व्यावसायिक उत्पादन सुरु गर्ने लक्ष्य राखिएको छ ।
Nepal’s hydropower map is set to gain new momentum as a 124.35 MW cascade hydropower project is planned alongside the under-construction 106 MW Jagdulla Hydropower Project under the People’s Hydropower Program. Located along the border areas of Mudkechula Rural Municipality in Dolpa and Nalgad Municipality in Jajarkot, the project was initially proposed at 82.3 MW but later upgraded following detailed technical assessments.
Promoted by Jagdulla Hydropower Company Limited, the project’s capacity enhancement proposal has already been submitted to the Department of Electricity Development and is currently under certification. Designed as a peaking run-of-river project, the scheme has completed most of its feasibility and detailed engineering study works. NEA Engineering Company was contracted in December 2020, and the feasibility study report was submitted in September 2024.
According to the company, financial structuring is progressing in parallel with technical studies. The project’s estimated cost stands at around NPR 30 billion, with financing expected from various banks and financial institutions. Featuring a gross head of 475.3 meters, the project targets annual generation of about 738.2 GWh of electricity. Power will be evacuated through a 132 kV transmission line to the Nalgad Hub Substation. Utilizing a 7-kilometer tunnel system and diverting water to the Triveni area for generation, the project aims to begin construction in FY 2083/84 and achieve commercial operation within four years—adding another strong current to Nepal’s hydropower drive.
