A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Social Security Fund (SSF) and the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) on Tuesday with the aim of integrating more industries and businesses into the contribution-based social security system.
In the presence of Krishna Hari Pushkar, Secretary at the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security and Chairperson of the Fund, the MoU was signed by SSF Executive Director Kabiraj Adhikari and CNI Director General Dr. Ghanshyam Ojha.
According to the agreement, CNI will facilitate all its affiliated associations, institutions, and industries to enroll in the Social Security Fund as mandated by the Labour Act and the Contribution-Based Social Security Act. The Fund, in collaboration with CNI, will regularly conduct awareness and training programs related to social security schemes and provide necessary support for effective implementation.
Speaking at the ceremony, SSF Chairperson Pushkar said the partnership will significantly help bring all types of industries affiliated with CNI under the social security framework. He emphasized that this collaboration is a crucial step toward increasing participation from both employers and workers in the social security system.
CNI Director General Dr. Ojha expressed the federation’s commitment to encouraging industries under its network to join the Fund’s social security schemes.
The Fund further stated that the MoU will support the goals of the Eighth Social Security Day, observed with the theme: “Social Security: Access to Universal Healthcare, a Pension-Oriented Society, and Enhanced Productivity.”
