Mutual Funds Increase Earnings Despite Falling Stock Market, Change in Investment Strategy Yields Profit
Despite the falling stock market, mutual funds have increased their earnings. Most mutual funds that have made their financial reports public have seen an increase in their net asset value (NAV).
The mutual funds that had zero investment in fixed deposits have also improved their financial situation in the falling market. Compared to Vaisakh, 38 mutual funds have increased their NAV.
19 have decreased, and two funds have remained stable. Mutual funds are investment tools for the stock market and bank fixed deposits.
The managers say that the improvement in earnings in the market is due to the change in investment strategy. 'The funds' condition has improved a bit due to investment in different stocks. We couldn't do much better than the market. The Lokyap stocks had fallen in between, and the mutual funds shifted from them,' said the head of planning at a merchant bank, 'In addition, the profit has increased due to the sale of shares of some companies like Reliance Spinning Mills, whose lock-in period has ended.'
The investment in fixed deposits has harmed the mutual funds. Since the bank's interest rate has fallen to 2.75 percent, the mutual funds have made their fixed deposit investment zero, as they didn't see the cost rising. When the interest rate on fixed deposits fell to zero, the mutual funds increased their investment in the market.
The stock market has also not been able to rise, which had previously affected earnings, but there has been an improvement in Jeth.
Financial situation of open and closed mutual funds
Out of 57 open and closed mutual funds, 40 have increased their investment in the market despite the falling stock market. These funds have invested Rs 6.8 billion in the market until Jeth, which is 2.65 percent more than the investment until Vaisakh. The investment of mutual funds in the market was Rs 6.6 billion until Vaisakh.
The NIBL Sahabhagita Fund has invested the most in the market, with an investment of Rs 8.74 billion. This fund has increased its investment in the stock market by 2.93 percent compared to Vaisakh.
The Garima Suvarna Yojana has increased its investment in the market by 59.59 percent, investing Rs 38 million.
The market had risen to 2960 points in the second week of Chait, after the election of the representative assembly in the third week of Falgun. There was enthusiasm in the stock market after the election of senior Rastriya Swatantra Party leader Balendra Shah.
