In a bid to secure long-term investment sources and further balance its financial portfolio, Nabil Bank Limited is preparing to float debentures worth Rs 4 billion. To facilitate this massive issuance, the commercial bank formally submitted an application to the regulatory authority, the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON), on Ashoj 28.
Upon receiving the regulatory nod, the bank will issue a total of 4 million units of debentures at a par value of Rs 1,000 per unit. Investors subscribing to this financial instrument, which carries a maturity period of 10 years, will be entitled to a fixed annual interest rate of 5.5 percent. SEBON's recent debenture pipeline indicates a growing trend among commercial banks utilizing such debt instruments as a primary tool for robust capital management.
The bank has distinctly categorized the total Rs 4 billion issuance for institutional investors and the general public. According to the proposed allocation, 60 percent of the total issue—amounting to 2.4 million units worth Rs 2.4 billion—will be sold through private placement. The remaining 40 percent, equating to 1.6 million units worth Rs 1.6 billion, will be issued to the general public through an initial public offering (IPO) process.
Global IME Capital Limited has been appointed as the issue and sales manager for this debenture offering. Once SEBON completes its necessary reviews and grants the final approval, the capital will officially initiate the sales process for both the public and private placement quotas.
