सोमबारदेखि देशव्यापी अनिश्चितकालीन यातायात बन्द गर्ने व्यवसायीको घोषणाNationwide Indefinite Transport Strike from Monday Announced by Transport Entrepreneurs
आठ वटा यातायात व्यवसायी संघ-संगठनहरुले जेठ १९ गते (सोमबार)देखि देशव्यापी अनिश्चितकालीन यातायात बन्द गर्ने घोषणा गरेका छन्। मंगलबार काठमाडौंमा आयोजित पत्रकार सम्मेलनमार्फत सार्वजनिक यातायात बचाउ केन्द्रीय संघर्ष समितिको आयोजनामा उनीहरुले आन्दोलनमा ऐक्यबद्धता जनाउँदै आफ्ना ७ बुँदे माग प्रस्तुत गरेका छन्।
नेपाल यातायात व्यवसायी राष्ट्रिय महासंघ, ट्रक व्यवसायी महासंघ, ढुवानी व्यवसायी महासंघ नेपाल, नेपाल यातायात मजदूर संगठनलगायतका संस्थाहरूले लामो समयदेखि सार्वजनिक यातायात क्षेत्रमा देखिएको नीति तथा व्यवस्थाको समस्याको समाधान नभएको भन्दै आन्दोलनमा जानुपर्ने अवस्था आएको बताएका छन्।
व्यवसायीहरूको मागमा प्रमुख रूपमा गण्डकी प्रदेश सरकारले ल्याएको निजी (रातो प्लेट) सवारीसाधनलाई सार्वजनिक रूपमा सञ्चालन गर्न दिने नियमावली २०८२ को तत्काल खारेजी, सार्वजनिक यातायात क्षेत्रका मजदूरहरूको लागि सामाजिक सुरक्षा कोषको अनिवार्य कार्यान्वयन, सवारी भार बहन क्षमता सम्बन्धी नियमहरूको कडाईका साथ कार्यान्वयन, दुर्घटना राहत कोषको स्थापना, बीमा दर निर्देशिकाको संशोधन लगायत छन्।
सरकारले यी माग सम्बोधन नगरेको खण्डमा जेठ १४ गते सबै प्रदेशका मुख्यमन्त्रीलाई मागपत्र बुझाउने र जेठ १९ गतेदेखि अनिश्चितकालीन बन्द गरिने संघर्ष समिति संयोजक विजयकुमार स्वाँरले चेतावनी दिएका छन्।
नेपाल यातायात व्यवसायी राष्ट्रिय महासंघका वरिष्ठ उपाध्यक्ष सरोज सिटौलाले दस वर्षदेखि सरकारसँग भएका छलफल र सहमतिहरू कार्यान्वयनमा नआएको भन्दै सरकारकै बिरुद्ध आन्दोलन गर्नु परेको बताएका छन्।
On Tuesday, eight major transport entrepreneurs' associations jointly announced a nationwide indefinite transport strike starting from Jestha 19 (June 2, 2025). Speaking at a press conference held in Kathmandu, the associations expressed solidarity with the protest organized by the Public Transport Protection Central Struggle Committee.
Citing unresolved issues in the transport sector, the associations—including the Nepal National Federation of Transport Entrepreneurs, Nepal Truck Transport Federation, Transport Workers' Organization, and others—unveiled a series of protest programs. Their 7-point demand includes immediate revocation of regulations like the one issued by Gandaki Province allowing private red-plate vehicles for public use, claiming it violates the existing Vehicle and Transportation Act 2049 and contradicts federal law.
The protestors also demanded the implementation of previous agreements and recommendations made by government task forces, enforcement of social security contributions for public transport workers, and strict application of vehicle load regulations. Additionally, they opposed the unequal treatment of foreign vehicles at Nepal’s customs points, which currently grants them a 72-hour free pass, and demanded equal treatment.
If their demands are not met, the transport entrepreneurs plan to submit memorandums to all seven provincial Chief Ministers on Jestha 14 and begin an indefinite strike from Jestha 19, parking all public vehicles in garages.
Bikash Kumar Swar, coordinator of the central struggle committee, and Saroj Sitoula, senior vice-president of the National Transport Entrepreneurs Federation, both stated that the government has repeatedly ignored the concerns of the sector despite more than a decade of dialogues and agreements.
