The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has called a ministerial-level board meeting today after the deadline for 49 industrialists to pay their outstanding dues expired on Kartik 8. These industrialists have been consuming electricity through dedicated and trunk lines, but they ignored NEA’s warning to settle their dues.
Warning to Pay Dues: NEA had issued a public notice on Ashoj 24, warning 49 industries to clear their outstanding dues by Kartik 8, or face legal action.
Deadline Expired: After the deadline passed on Kartik 8, none of the industries paid their dues, prompting NEA to call a ministerial-level meeting, scheduled for 9 AM today.
Board Members: The meeting will be chaired by the Energy Minister and will include the Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, the Revenue Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, and other members. The Executive Director of NEA will attend as the Member Secretary.
Outstanding Dues: NEA has repeatedly urged the industrialists to pay their dues from Magh 2072 to Baisakh 2075. The authority has also asked them to pay additional fees along with the overdue amount for not paying the electricity charges.
It is expected that this meeting will result in strict measures against the non-paying industrialists, as NEA prepares to move forward with legal proceedings.
