Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stated that Nepal is not currently in a position to take loans from any country. Addressing a public awareness program held in Durbar Marg on Friday, Prime Minister Oli shared that he will be visiting neighboring China on December 2 (Mangsir 17).
Highlighting the importance of his upcoming visit, he said, "Visits to other countries are undertaken for the benefit and welfare of the nation. Similarly, we have prepared for our visits to ensure they yield successful outcomes."
Referring to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), a Chinese project, the Prime Minister emphasized, "Nepal is not in a condition to take loans from anyone at this time. Wherever possible, we avoid borrowing. Currently, neither our mindset nor circumstances require us to take loans. However, we must focus on increasing production and advancing on our own."
The Prime Minister also stressed the need to boost domestic production and work towards self-reliance to strengthen Nepal's economic position.
