काठमाडौं — सम्पत्ति शुद्धीकरण अनुसन्धान विभागले आर्थिक वर्ष २०८२/८३ मा सम्पत्ति शुद्धीकरण तथा मनी लाउन्डरिङसम्बन्धी सात वटा मुद्दा विशेष अदालतमा दायर गरेको छ। ती मुद्दामा १२१ जनालाई प्रतिवादी बनाउँदै विभागले एक खर्ब १८ अर्ब पाँच करोड रुपैयाँभन्दा बढी बिगो दाबी गरेको जनाएको छ।
विभागको वार्षिक विवरणअनुसार पछिल्लो वर्ष आर्थिक अपराध, अवैध सम्पत्ति र वित्तीय अपराधसँग सम्बन्धित अनुसन्धानलाई प्राथमिकताका साथ अघि बढाइएको थियो। प्राप्त उजुरी र सूचनाको प्रारम्भिक अध्ययनपछि आवश्यक देखिएका विषयमा विस्तृत अनुसन्धान गरी मुद्दा दायर गरिएको विभागले जनाएको छ।
राजस्व चुहावट, भन्सार तथा अन्तःशुल्क छली, अवैध कारोबार र गैरकानुनी आम्दानीलाई वैध देखाउने प्रयाससँग सम्बन्धित कसुरको अनुसन्धान विभागले गर्दै आएको छ। आर्थिक अपराधबाट आर्जित सम्पत्तिको स्रोत पहिचान गरी दोषीमाथि कानुनी कारबाही अघि बढाउनु विभागको मुख्य जिम्मेवारी रहेको छ।
विभागले वित्तीय अपराध नियन्त्रणका लागि अनुसन्धान शाखा तथा अन्य निकायसँगको समन्वयलाई थप प्रभावकारी बनाउँदै लगिएको जनाएको छ। आगामी दिनमा अवैध सम्पत्ति नियन्त्रण र वित्तीय प्रणालीलाई पारदर्शी बनाउन अनुसन्धान तथा अभियोजन प्रक्रिया अझ सशक्त बनाउने विभागको भनाइ छ।
Kathmandu — Nepal’s Department of Money Laundering Investigation has filed seven cases related to money laundering and illicit financial activities in the fiscal year 2025/26, naming 121 individuals as defendants and claiming more than Rs 118.05 billion in damages.
According to the department’s annual report, investigations into financial crimes, illegal assets and suspicious transactions were intensified during the year. After preliminary reviews of complaints and information received, detailed investigations were conducted before filing cases at the Special Court.
The department has been investigating offences including revenue leakage, customs and excise evasion, illegal trade activities, money laundering and attempts to legalise income obtained through unlawful means. Its main responsibility is to identify the source of illegally acquired assets and take legal action against individuals and organisations involved.
Officials said the department has strengthened coordination with various agencies and improved investigation procedures to control financial crimes. Multiple investigation units, legal and advisory sections, coordination divisions and police units are currently working to support the process.
The department said it will continue strengthening investigations and prosecution efforts to prevent illegal wealth accumulation and improve transparency and credibility within Nepal’s financial system.
