Nepali Students Spend Over NPR 47 Billion on Foreign Education

Despite well-equipped universities and educational institutions in Nepal, the number of Nepali students opting to study abroad has not decreased. According to Nepal Rastra Bank, in the first five months of the current fiscal year, Nepali students have spent NPR 47.34 billion solely on foreign educational programs. Special attention has been drawn to the educational expenditure, which highlights the increasing trend and rising costs associated with Nepali students studying abroad.
As per the data released by Nepal Rastra Bank, travel expenses have increased by 12.2%, bringing the total travel expenditure to NPR 85.1 billion. Of this, NPR 47.41 billion is allocated for educational expenses. As of the end of Mangsir (mid-December), the net service income is at a loss of NPR 40.71 billion, while travel income has increased by 3.1%, reaching NPR 35.19 billion. This increase, compared to the previous year, is significant and further highlights the impact of foreign travel on Nepal's economic situation.
