The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index declined by 33.83 points on Thursday, closing at 2,833.03 points, reversing the previous day’s 33-point gain. The market was largely affected by rumors regarding the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) expanding its probe into the private sector, which created uncertainty and dampened investor sentiment. As a result, all major indices, including the sensitive, float, and sensitive float indices, also declined. Total turnover dropped from Rs. 10.53 billion on Wednesday to Rs. 9.31 billion on Thursday. All 13 subgroups ended in negative territory, with the finance subgroup leading the decline at 1.98 percent. Despite five stocks hitting the positive circuit level, most shares faced selling pressure throughout the session. In terms of turnover, Reliance Spinning Mills topped the list, followed by significant trading in National Hydro Power and SY Panel Nepal.
