NEPSE Gains 38 Points on Final Trading Day Before Election, Broad Market Sees Strong Rally

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index closed higher on the final trading day before the House of Representatives election, continuing its positive momentum for the fifth consecutive trading session. On Tuesday, the benchmark index surged by 38.52 points to reach 2,712.49. Similarly, the Sensitive Index gained 6.25 points, while the Float Index and Sensitive Float Index increased by 3.03 points and 2.41 points respectively. Along with the market rise, trading turnover also increased significantly. Compared to NPR 5.64 billion worth of transactions in the previous session, Tuesday recorded trades worth NPR 6.23 billion through 61,329 transactions involving 329 listed companies, with 15.18 million shares exchanged.
Salpa Development Bank’s shares hit the positive circuit level again, rising by NPR 64.20 to close at NPR 707.10. Panchakanya Mai Hydropower and Reliance Spinning Mills recorded nearly 10 percent gains, while Molung Hydropower increased by more than 6 percent. Declining stocks, however, recorded losses of less than 3 percent, indicating broad market strength. In terms of turnover, Ankhu Khola Hydropower Company topped the list with transactions worth NPR 346.53 million, followed by Ridi Hydropower and SY Panel Nepal with significant trading volumes.
Among the 13 sectoral indices, 12 sectors closed higher while only the trading sector recorded a slight decline. The hydropower sector led the gains with a 2.13 percent rise. Banking, development banks, finance, hotels and tourism, investment, life insurance, manufacturing and processing, microfinance, non-life insurance, and other sectors all recorded gains of over 1 percent.
