NEPSE Gains Marginally, Trading Turnover Declines

On the last trading day of the week, Wednesday, the benchmark index of Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) closed slightly higher, continuing the positive momentum from the previous session. The NEPSE index gained 1.37 points to settle at 2,585.87 points. Along with this, the Sensitive Index rose by 0.94 points, the Float Index by 0.17 points, and the Sensitive Float Index by 0.46 points. Despite the rise in indices, total trading turnover declined. While Tuesday recorded a turnover of NPR 3.42 billion, Wednesday saw trading worth NPR 3.22 billion through 62,768 transactions of 334 listed companies, with 7.22 million shares exchanged. Infinity Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha recorded the highest gain of 5.32 percent, while National Hydropower and Him Star Urja gained more than 4 percent each. In contrast, Grameen Bikas Laghubitta and Corporate Development Bank lost more than 4 percent. Based on turnover, SY Panel Nepal topped the chart with transactions worth NPR 144.9 million. Out of 13 sub-indices, six advanced while seven declined, with banking, hotels & tourism, manufacturing & processing, mutual funds, non-life insurance, and trading sub-indices ending the session in positive territory.
