NEPSE Gains Modestly, Trading Turnover Declines

On the last trading day of the week, Thursday, the NEPSE index closed higher with a modest gain. After declining on Wednesday, the benchmark index rose by 4.59 points to settle at 2,640.54 points. Along with NEPSE, the Sensitive Index increased by 0.92 points, while the Float Index and Sensitive Float Index rose by 0.45 points and 0.35 points respectively. Despite the index gaining, total trading turnover declined. The market witnessed transactions worth NPR 4.90 billion from the trading of 10.43 million shares of 328 listed companies through 69,261 transactions, compared to NPR 5.17 billion on the previous day. Sanvi Energy recorded the highest price gain of 8.16 percent, while SY Panel Nepal’s share price rose by more than 5 percent. In terms of turnover, SY Panel Nepal led the market with transactions worth NPR 200.6 million, followed by Bandipur Cable Car and Tourism with over NPR 175 million and Sanvi Energy with more than NPR 150 million. Out of the 13 sub-indices, seven sectors including Banking, Development Bank, Hotels & Tourism, Hydropower, Life Insurance, Manufacturing & Processing, and Non-Life Insurance closed in positive territory, while the remaining six sectors ended lower.
