NEPSE Index and Trading Turnover Both Decline

On Wednesday, the benchmark index of the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) closed lower after two consecutive days of gains. The NEPSE index fell by 13.35 points to settle at 2,635.94 points. Alongside the benchmark, the Sensitive Index declined by 2.22 points, while the Float Index and Sensitive Float Index dropped by 0.90 points and 0.74 points, respectively. Market turnover also weakened, as total trading volume decreased to NPR 5.17 billion from NPR 7.12 billion recorded on the previous trading day. A total of 323 stocks were traded through 72,474 transactions, amounting to over 10.6 million shares. Narayani Development Bank recorded the highest price gain of 6.08 percent, whereas SY Panel Nepal witnessed the sharpest decline of 8.45 percent. In terms of turnover, SY Panel Nepal topped the list, followed by Srinagar Agritech Industries and Manjushree Finance. Among the 13 sub-indices, only Finance and Trading posted marginal gains, while the remaining sectors ended in the red, with the Hotel & Tourism and Manufacturing & Processing sub-indices recording the steepest losses.
