NEPSE Index Closes Lower with Decline in Trading Turnover

On the final trading day of the week, the benchmark index of Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) closed slightly lower, ending a two-day gaining streak. The index dropped by 13.46 points to settle at 2,837.77, while other indicators including the sensitive and float indices also declined. The total turnover decreased compared to the previous session, standing at around NPR 8.99 billion, with over 97,000 transactions across 335 listed stocks. Despite a few companies hitting positive circuit levels, the overall market remained under pressure. In terms of turnover, National Hydropower led the market, followed by Reliance Spinning Mills and Ridi Power Development with notable trading volumes. Out of 13 sub-indices, 11 declined, while manufacturing & processing and hydropower sectors posted modest gains, indicating a mixed market trend.
